the john hancock tower : boston

this building was plagued with problems upon its ‘completion’ in the early 70’s.
the windows were all installed incorrectly and on windy days, the massive glass panels would blow out and crash down to the street below. during repair, wood was used to cover all the windows temporarily. people laughed and called it the ‘worlds tallest building made of wood’.

also, on severely windy days, the occupants on the 58th floor would suffer from motion sickness because the building swayed too much.

all problems have since been repaired.
